Please fix the record search so that when someone searches for records in Slovenia, they don't get results for Slovakia. They're not the same country and they don't even share a border. Thank you.
I think this is yet another result of the ongoing problem with mis-standardized locations. Nobody at FS has quite admitted to this, but we've been seeing evidence over and over lately that they must have run most of their index databases through some sort of automated standard-associating process, and that process Got It Wrong more times than not.
We're now on page 2 of comments on Gordon's thread compiling such errors: https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/102829/errors-in-indexed-record-updated-place-names/p1
I wonder whether the problem is because the Search is only based on the first four letters, rather than the whole word.
I say that because in the past FamilySearch has lumped together India and Indiana in certain documentation, which meant that India was considered to be part of the USA. These errors occurred over a period of years and if one error was fixed up, the problem kept re-occurring, so obviously there was no attempt made to fix the underlying problem. Evidently there was no ongoing FS "knowledge" that such problems could happen. I wonder if the Search problems now are another manifestation of this practice.
