I'm indexing Ontario Tax Records. Do you in the name of a municipality in both the city and the township heading areas if only a municipality is written? When I look at the purple" ?" instructions for both city and township it says index municipality here. Is it necessary to enter this same information in both areas?

You're right that each of those Field Helps say to enter a municipality in that field, so when I review I give leeway if the indexer put it into both fields, even when a particular municipality is only a township and not a city. If they enter it into one, I also give leeway since those instructions don't make sense. I think if the place name is given only as a municipality, no matter which field, or both, it's entered into, it will end up as a correct place when searching on Family Search. I may be wrong, so don't quote me on this.
