Seeking clarification about Private memories and sharing them
Hi
I have uploaded photos of my children when they were younger, and made them all private, and put them in an album in my memories section.
I copied the link to the particular album and emailed it to one of my children so they could be viewed. I thought it would be the quickest way to get the photos onto my child's own memories section. The photos are tagged to my (living) version of my child, hence the PID's will be different.
However, the album shows up as empty.
I am assuming this is because the photos are marked private.
So, this would suggest that in order for my child to have the same photos, they would have to be loaded up again, under their own login. This seems an unnecessary amount of duplication, especially when you consider that a photo of a deceased person needs only be uploaded once.
Thanks
Brian

Fingers crossed, there may be a new feature coming soon that lets you share a private tree space with others you select. Ron Tanner mentioned it in a recent video in his family history channel on YouTube.

That would be useful ☺️

This FAQ for FS employees has the latest information. I don't know if it can do what you have in mind.

Cool, did not even know about family groups. Useful, but still cannot currently share private memories even in such groups says the FAQ.
Will just have to wait.
Thanks Brian

Realize though that just because a photo is for a living person - does not necessarily mean you should automatically mark it as private - without taking any further thought
Many people post such items - leave it as public - but then leave the title blank - so that it cannot be found via a FIND -
(but can still be shared) and can be grouped under an album - and the URL for the album shared with specific people you want to access them,
this is one of the things discussed under this url:

also see: https://yanceyfamilygenealogy.org/family_search_batch_processing.htm
(note these posts above were made before the "family groups" option existed.
