Nothing seems to have been done about the incorrect Field Help example of how to index a child's surname in the Baptism records in this project. The wording in the Field Help is clear and there is an excellent example in the Project Instructions. Out of interest I have been keeping a note of how often indexers have not followed the instructions. I have just reviewed 15 batches of Baptism records from a variety of years and out of the 15 only 1 indexer has followed the instructions correctly. I can't be the only indexer/reviewer who is finding it strange that nothing is being done to correct this or to flag it up for indexers.

Here is a share batch in which you can see the incorrect example in the Field help for Child's Surname and the Project Instructions example of 'How to index a baptism' (under What to index).

Magaret, you are correct we do not index the surname of the parent for the child. We only index a surname for the child when it is written with the child’s Given Names.

The field Help example for Child’s Surname is incorrect and it has been reported for its correction.

We appreciate your help for identifying this issue.
