my ancester Margaret Alice Brant who was born in Alford Lincolnshire 25th September 1871
She went to South Africa sailing botth 1893 and 1898 on ships German and Greek This is confirmed in family bible.She must have returned at some point because in 1906 she was discharged home to her father in Alford from a London workhouse/infirmary. We have to assume she returned the South Africa as there are no records in the family bible ref her death. She is not listed in UK census for 1901 or 1911 Cannot find a record of her death in South Africa Am stuck.

Looking on Ancestry, various members have identified her with Margaret Alice Marriott who died age 38 in Apr-Jun 1909 in the Gainsborough district in Lincolnshire (although this does not include Alford). None of these as far as I can easily tell offer any support for this such as a marriage. The location is possibly correct, the age is one year out and, of course, the surname is wrong. So this may just be a stab in the dark by an Ancestry member that has been blindly copied by others (quite a common scenario).
A quick look does not offer a marriage to a Marriott.
You could try obtaining the death certificate to see if this yields anything useful.
If you have access to Ancestry, you could also try contacting the members there to see what they know.
You say that she is an ancestor. Is she direct line? When and where did she have children?
