New Search Records Format
OK I take back some (but not all) of my negative comments on the new records search format, which is still awkward but I have found ways and means to get around the unnecessary problems to achieve most of what I set out to machieve, but why when I click on "collections" are all of the options NOT in Alphabetical or Numerical order. The old system allowed one to selectr a country and region, then e.g. 1871 census and I could then stay with that choice, perhaps changing names and other details. Formerly I was in charge. Now you are in charge of what I can and cannot view. Then I either have to attempt a back space or get out of thatpage, go back to the poerson page and strart again applying filters every time wehich is tedious and time consuming.

It sounds like maybe you are wanting to Browse by Place - formerly selecting a location on map?
You can still Search this way:
or by collection:
Does this help?

Unfortunately, if there's any way in the new-and-disimproved interface to sort the "filter by collection" lists by anything other than frequency, nobody has found it yet.

The Search filter at the top (More Options: when filtering by Collection) should help if you know place/type of collection you want.
Or if you know the record type you are searching - you can set that in More Options> Record Options: Type.

More options, more work. It was so much simpler before.

I agree - the interface is not as simple as it was before (on largely one page). The options are still there - just on different tabs/locations. A bit of extra work and relearning to do the same process as before.
It appears that some of the interface changes may be so that they are 'easier' on mobile devices - easier to view a tab than an entire page on a mobile device. But that begs the question why have the mobile app if mobile users are using the website?
It is too bad Familysearch did not keep the inline/vertically scrollable option for PC users. Who knows - maybe they will eventually provide this interface option (but at this point I would not recommend holding one's breath).
Only Familysearch has the statistics of users accessing the site on mobile vs. PC/laptop - if the user-base is more 'mobile' these days then I suppose that could explain the changes - easier to maintain 1 interface than 2 ... But that there are 2 interface options for mobile (app and browser) means PC/laptop users are not being considered as much - maybe a hint that more of user-base is mobile? I don't know - seems like they could do it ... I don't know why not ...

STUCK, unless some FS manager or director or (?) decides on consumes a bit of humble crow and decides to listen to its users!!! Then it might possibly return to the previous search system.
However, as they did not, & will not listen on the GEDCOM issue (migrating into the FSTree), I somewhat doubt it will happen. Humility is a very positive trait to learn, but apparently for many.
