Christina used the name GRAY, not SHURLEY. She immigrated to Preble CO, Ohio, with her Uncle, Charles Gray, in 1805 with her son Jonathan. There is no mention of his father

anywhere. I (ASSUME) he was illegitimate, as there is also no mention of her marriage. I have contacted the Shirley/Shurley Assn. , they had no information.

There was a Jonathan Shurley, in the Virginia area at that time, but can find no connection, as records say he married someone else. Can anyone help me, as my line is finished. MAYBE a DNA match, as I had that done.

Thanks Ed Behnke

Have you considered working up person IDs on Family Tree for all FS historical records of Shirley / Shirly / Shurley in Augusta County, Virginia? Between 1750 and 1820 there are just 8 records. One is a Jonathan, and old enough to be the father of your LT6B-JDL Jonathan Shurley.

I looked at him, he died young, but i couldn't make any connections. ALSO i found only one marriage for him, and wasn't Christina Gray. Seems Libraries don't loan County Histories, so having a hard time finding anything.

Christina went by GRAY, not SHURLEY. In those times that's strange, because women were considered whores and children bastards. Possibly reason they immigrated to Ohio.

    Thanks, I'll keep trying.
