Why has the search feature been changed?
Why has the SEARCH FEATURE been changed? Is this based on "improvements" or tweaking for "aesthetics" or for practice for web developers. The changes are not functional improvements in any way. They may be okay for a "family exploration" but are completely inadequate for any real research. Are you trying to send people to other applications?
The previous SEARCH FEATURE did need some improvements, but those implemented are making it worse not better.

Disagree here. The same parameters, filters and preferences are available plus more. If you have specific questions about how to perform the same parameter searches - by all means ask away.

Whilst I am in general agreement with you when it comes to still being able to get the same results as before, surely 95% of FamilySearch users can't be wrong?
If there are enhancements they just seem to be applicable to features I do not use (exporting results, etc.). Otherwise, this would probably only have any real appeal for those who are adept with touch-screen (as opposed to mouse) use. It is just crazy to me that I can now view so little on my wide screen monitor and have to make use of constant scrolling to see all the results detail that could previously be displayed on "one screen".
The new interface appears to break most of the conventions of using such a program with a PC and monitor, being probably designed for those who prefer using tablets and smartphones.

I certainly agree that this new interface is not as 'screen real-estate friendly' - and have given feedback to that effect. That is why I would love to see an optional 'minimal' interface - more like the previous version (not likely to occur but have still given that constructive idea). It seems from the non-logged in Search option to the logged in Search FamilySearch is opting for a more GUI interface (something I could do without but might make others happy). In this circumstance I can get to the same results I just have to do a click or two more - something I can live with...
I certainly agree there are features which introduce variability or seeming 'randomness' of search results - but those are mostly contained to the More Options: Life Events section (excluding moving pieces of collections/indexes - which would be moving pieces in the 'old Search' at this point too). Were there possibly some problems introduced when this new Search was released? it appears so - but as I mention they might have been problems on the horizon anyway (hard to tell).
I hope some of this helps.
@L R Allen I understand the frustration but I guess I'm just willing to work-around the changes to interface ...
