I am reviewing. For a page number in this batch there appears to be 263 1/2.
"Half pages" are not addressed in the project instructions. Should I leave it as 263 or put 263 1/2? It is seen on the right side of the the image in the Grantee column 6th Grantee down Peter Beier.

Hi Lisa.
That’s a first for me. I see that you’ve corrected the Page Field of the Entry (#58) to 263 1/2, which is what the Record shows, and is one legitimate/conventional way to transcribe that mixed number. Quality Check doesn’t like it, but is willing to let you “Accept“ it and submit. It won’t affect a Family Search Researcher since FS doesn’t provide a search on that Field. Also, I don’t know how robust the data owner’s search software is, or exactly how the index will be used by them, but I’d be comfortable Accepting that value as you’ve modified it and moving on. I expect that they will be able to deal with it.
That’s just my opinion.

As long as I've been indexing we've always dropped any fractions (as general indexing guidelines say to do for ages and used to say for addresses). I can't find anywhere that says to do that anymore, but I suspect that we would drop it.

Good points, @barbaragailsmith1 . That old address instruction might lean a judgment call towards dropping it. I thought it was interesting that the system allowed the fraction to be accepted. I'm not sure it's worth an investigation to find out what the Project Managers want.

I really don't think it is a big deal, but found it interesting. Thanks @barbaragailsmith1 and @John Empoliti .
I am curious to see if it will let me submit it. If not, I will drop it.
Thanks

You will need to “Accept” that value (rather than “correct” it), and it might. It seemed poised to complete the submission when I tried a “submit” from your shared batch, so it might for you. I’m sure it would have eventually balked in some way for me, being a Shared Batch. And the way you’ve written it, with a space between the 263 and the 1/2, a (data owner’s) search engine should at least get a hit from the 263 with no problem if that’s a searchable field for their software. Please let us know what happens. I’m curious too.
Having said all of the above, as @barbaragailsmith1 has said, we usually drop fractions. I just had a fond recollection of the WWII draft card project, where we were instructed to drop any fraction in height measurements of registrants. In the absence of a specific (or general blanket) instruction, use your “best judgement.”

It balked but i did submit it as 263 1/2.
