I believe the problem lies in there being so many errors like this, but FamilySearch having no dedicated section to address them.

It is highly unusual for a genealogy website not to have a direct link to report errors in its records, but I believe FamilySearch's "official" response would be that it has to make difficult decisions on ranking priorities (given its limited resources as a non-commercial organisation) and there are other issues that rank higher than this one.
