Please, please update the "How to enter names" help page.
This: https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-to-enter-names-in-family-tree
Can somebody please make it absolutely clear that the surname field in the vital information section should include maiden names only, and should be left blank if that's not known. Or maybe provide a specific example for what to do when only a mother/wife's first name is known. I keep having to fend of people writing "Mrs." in the title field and adding the married name in the primary surname field.

FYI
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
Great suggested enhancement.
But ...
That Said ...
As an aside ...
Unfortunately, that is the 'way' it used to be ... 'many moons ago' ...
As far as I was aware, such is NOT, recommended; or, taught, now ...
But ...
That Said ...
'Old habits die hard' ...
And, is STILL used by, MANY; Many; many, Users/Patrons; even, today ...
Many Users/Patron, just DO NOT like, to 'see' a "Blank" (ie. "Empty") "Place Holder" for an individual/person.
[ Especially, in the position of, a Spouse; and/or, a Parent ... they WANT to 'see' SOMETHING there ... ]

A "Systems" Programmer once said to me:
You cannot make a "System" FOOLPROOF; because, FOOLS are so ingenious ...

Even, adding what you suggest, to the "Knowledge Article", in 'FamilySearch':
How should I enter names in Family Tree?
https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-to-enter-names-in-family-tree
Although, commendable ...
Will, MOST likely, NOT make much difference ...
As, the MAJORITY, of Users/Patrons, DO NOT access such "Knowledge Articles".
Whereas ...
That Said ...
We can live in hope ...
That "knowledge Article" may get ... "Improved Upon" ...
Just my thoughts.

Having something authoritative to point people to to solve disagreements and standardize entries is necessary. Thorough style guidelines always make things better.
