How do I or someone correct these two mistakes?

1) Mary Affleck 1791-1867 listed as M6C4 RRS. Says she was born at Troqueer. It should be Traquair.

2) Death of Mary Kirkwood in the U.S. in 1903 aged 79. Says her parents were David Murdison and Mary Aflake - obviously someone was trying to remember! Her parents were actually Daniel Murdison and Mary Affleck.

You can change vital information such as correcting a place in family tree. The Help Article How do I change vital information in Family Tree? gives easy steps in changing information.

You can also change her parents names by clicking on the incorrect name and making the correction. Please give a source or reason for your changes in order help other users of Family Tree

The first one is straightforward. Just click on "Edit" alongside the Birth and replace the current input with the one that best matches Traquair in 1791 (pick "Traquair, Peebles-shire, Scotland" from the drop-down list). It might help to keep the change records clearer if the delete (rather than over-type) and add the new name afresh.

Again, for the incorrect names, you can click on "Edit" alongside them and replace them with the correct names / spellings. In this case (as with any change of Death information) you do not have an actual "Delete" option, so just over-type.

BTW - where does it say " her parents were David Murdison and Mary Aflake"? There are no parents attached to the ID you reference (M6C4-RRS) and no sources attached to show them, either.

Sorry - I appear to have misunderstood the second point you raised: I believe I was looking at Mary Affleck, instead of Mary Kirkwood. Sorry for any confusion caused.

I've had second thoughts about changing Mary Affleck because there is a Troqueer in Kirkcudbright so maybe she isn't the one in my family tree.

Re the question about parents, etc. I just looked at the original document (Maine USA) for David Murdison (knowing it was an anomaly) and discovered it was a record of the death of Mary Kirkwood wife of Alexander Kirkwood with her parents listed as David Murdison and Mary Aflake. Daniel Murdison and Mary Affleck are my paternal ancestors in a direct line of descent. Hope I've explained that OK.

Re changing David to Daniel, I've been able to correct it in the lefthand column and highlighted the error (David) in green on the original but can't seem to click and drag 'Daniel' over to the area I've outlined in green on the original document. (sigh)
