"Assistants" in FamilySearch Tree

The closest thing I know of to that description is giving your "Helper Number" to someone else so that person can work on the family. Any work that person does will show as if you had made the additions or connections yourself. Your helper number is listed in settings, under the permissions tab.
Helper Access
Your Helper Number
When you give your helper number to someone else, he or she can edit your Tree information and prepare a personalized discovery experience for you. Keep this number secure.

Note that the Helper Number that Áine mentioned can only by used by people with LDS accounts on FS. Us lowly mundanes cannot help other users this way.

Your question will be forwarded to the Family Tree team for review and assistance. You may be contacted by that team if they need more information.
Also, regarding living people here is information on the living people in your tree. https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/what-is-a-private-space-in-family-tree
Since they are living and to protect their privacy only you can see them in your tree. As @Áine Ni Donnghaile mentioned you can get assistance by sharing your helper number with anyone that has a Member account of FamilySearch.
Also it maybe helpful to get assistance at the nearest Family History Center. There are consultants there that can work with you one on one. https://www.familysearch.org/help/fhcenters/locations/centerlocator
Hopefully that will help.

Yes another person can help you with your account but ONLY if you give them your username and helper number. NEVER give them your password ever. They can find their username and helper number by pressing on their name in the upper right hand corner and under the name they will see the word settings. Press on settings, then under account is their username and then under permissions is their helper number. You will not see any living persons in their tree only deceased persons do to privacy issues.
