Who checks when FamilySearch adds children to a couple without having proof that they belong there?
Whilst researching for my cousin's family line, I came across one couple in disarray.
Family Search (maybe volunteers, I have no idea) kept adding children after the mother had died. I think it was 13-14 children extra, despite the warning notices coming up on the RHS of the screen.
Please could someone with better knowledge than myself (not difficult in this particular area of expertise!!), look into where the background data came from ..... and more importantly ..... to whom do these extra children belong? I am reluctant to touch this, having made a right mess of my own (a while back). I did look to see if a merge had gone wrong (my particular sin!!), but backed up without altering anything.
The couple in question is: Abraham Jacobus Esbach LC3M-QHM and Maria Helena Catharina Bosch K2JC-P1P.
Poor Maria died in 1864, but miraculously she continued to produce children for the next 20 years. I can only assume that Abraham married another (younger) lady and continued to father more children ..... and that the kids were being added to his first union.
Please could you look into this and do any necessary adjustments?
Many thanks and regards
Pamela

Hello @PamelaBaxter5,
In looking at the entries for the children of the couple you mentioned, it seems like most that appear after her death date are duplicates. However, there are no sources listed linking any of the children to this mother and father.
There are also no linked sources showing the mothers date of death.
The next step would be to research these children and see if you can find any records to verify any of the information found in this family.
Here is an article that explains why FamilySearch is showing as the contributor in some of these cases:
Best Wishes!
