Search Results Page Ideas
Okay, so I'm new at this feedback stuff, but I have a desperate need/idea. I'm NOT a fan of the new layout of the Search Results page. I need to be able to see the information for the "Person From Family Tree" (information I've circled in the image below) as I search the records, however, as soon as I start scrolling through the search results, the information for the "Person From Family Tree" disappears with the scroll. Then, if I come across a record that I believe is a good match and wonder if the information from the "Person From Family Tree" matches (...what was the father's name again? ...what was the death date again? what were some of the siblings names, places, etc...), I have to scroll back up to the top of the page to the gray bar where that information is located to be reminded, THEN I have to scroll BACK down to find the record I was questioning...
It's a back and forth process. SUPER difficult to navigate with this new layout. It would be nice for that information to stay locked in at the top of the page (like on the old layout) to quickly glance if the information matches the person from the tree who you're searching. Please do something to lock that in.
Also, how do you even retrieve the information for the individual you're searching (gray bar area at the top of the Search Results page) if you click on the "X" next to the "Show More" Tab that's located in that same gray bar (see circled "X" at the top right of image). If I click the "X" to close that information, it seems the only way to get it back is to navigate back to the individual's details page and click "Family Search" under "Search Records" all over again. It would be nice to be able to bring that back if you accidentally close that area in the Search Results.
One more issue that would be great to address is the actual information/details themselves that are contained in the gray area for the details of the "Person From Family Tree". We are given the option to "Show More" of the details, however, when this is clicked, it takes up so much "white space" that it seems to get in the way of the records to view (until you start scrolling and then that information scrolls away anyway). Please see what you can do to condense that information AND keep it at the top of the screen while scrolling through records.
I really wish you hadn't changed the layout and functionality of the Search Page. If changes needed to be made, making those changes within the previous layout would have been a better option, but if it is what it is, please consider these changes.
Thanks,
Lisa

It is hard to "hone in" on a name (using alternative spellings) or modify dates, locations. Researching is now extremely hard. Ancestry.com is equally hard.

Here are some FOUR (x4) posts, in date (and, post) order of being posted, from someone, stating, to be part of the 'FamilySearch' Team that, 'Designed'; and, 'Developed", the the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records", which appears, in some of the posts, to give some "Instruction", on HOW to use the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records".

FamilySearch Employee Responding to Search Page Feedback
I hope, that some of the information in these posts, may offer some help/assistance.
And ...
There are OTHER posts throughout this Forum, where the instigator of the above posts has responded with, advice; direction; instruction; help/assistance, on the NEW "Results" page/screen, of "Records Search" ('FamilySearch').
Now ...
That Said ...
You may like to ADD, your thoughts/comments, in those particular posts; so that, your thoughts/comments, like those of MANY other UNHAPPY Users/Patrons, ARE 'seen', by the Team, in 'FamilySearch', that 'Designed'; and, 'Developed" the NEW look "Search".
As you can 'see' from those posts ...
DESPITE, all the NEGATIVE 'Feedback', with regard to the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records", from those that matter, the 'lowly' User/Patrons, where the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records", was 'foisted' upon them; BEFORE, being "Fully" released to ALL User/Patrons - 'FamilySearch' RELEASED the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records", to ALL Users/Patrons.
As I already suggested ...
You are not alone ...
We are ALL "Struggling"; and, NEED "Help", with the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records", which is NOT very 'User Friendly'.
MOST Users/Patrons want the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records" to be "Reverted" BACK to the PREVIOUS "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records".
But ...
That Said ...
SADLY, I doubt that will happen ...
I know that this DOES NOT help/assist; but, I hope that this gives you some. insight; and, perspective.

The new search results page makes reading those results extremely difficult: because all the search criteria are listed at the top and fixed, there is very little room to read the results below. If there are several criteria, rarely do more than one or two lines of each result appear. It is difficult to control the scroll the results, especially if they are numerous, as each scroll can move an entire result. Supposedly there is a Show More/Show Less box at the top of the results page, but it only appears if you do a search from a Person Page, using Search -> FamilySearch, but there's no FamilySearch item to click on! If I just click on Search -> Records, I get the same issue: no Show More/Show Less box.
I much preferred the previous page format, which allowed a good overview of criteria, results, and search options in columns. The new row format just makes the process tedious and in some cases, virtually unreadable. It becomes much more time-consuming as well as hard on the eyes to pick out useful information. I cannot fathom it would be that difficult to program a Show More/Show Less box into results from Search -> Records without starting in a Person Page.

Why not have an option button to either stay on the new search page or you can click the button to revert to the old search page?.
I've seen hundreds of comments not liking the new search page layout. The option to choose could be a solution.

I usually use the app but for better searching I decided to use the website on my laptop to search for a supposed marriage attached to a relative who died a single man. I was utterly horrified by the results of my attempts. The search criteria take up most of the page, I needed to look for a marriage on a specific date in a specific location. I could just about see that there are 24 results right at the bottom of the page. As I am only given about half an inch at the bottom of the page I will never know what these results are. I have been trying for days to display my results in a meaningful way, I have been asking for help elsewhere. I use a touchscreen laptop but I went out and bought a mouse in case that would help - which it didn't. This search feature is now totally useless to me, I would go so far as to say its a waste of time. I will need to go elsewhere to determine if the marriage is my relative or has been attached in error, as I suspect. I am not LDS but I contribute quite a lot including sorting out other people's messes. At the moment I don't see any way that I can continue with Family Search at all. That's a real shame.
