Hello folks

I am reviewing this batch UK, England, Lancashire—Nonconformist Church Records, 1647–1996 [Part B][MSKW-SQP] and just want to double check that the indexing for the first entry in July 1561 (top left page) is correct. I think it is but have not encountered this situation before so...

Entry reads Peter Hurste and he married the ux (widow) of James Painter

so the indexing has

  • the date for the marriage
  • the groom's given (Peter) and surname (Hurste) .
  • Everything else is blank and specifically no Bride's surname because we do not infer her surname from her late-husband's name

ps it drives me crazy when these sorts of entries are made - poor woman has no identity - I am going to try and find it.

and it has been incorrectly indexed here as Janies Painter https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:68KJ-KQ4L but with no image available the researcher has no way of knowing it's wrong

Thanks for letting me double check

Other than the fact you can read the surnames better than I can so I cannot positively verify the surnames, they look fine!
