Two weeks ago, I brought this problem to the community, but the problem persists. When trying to view any type of vital record from West Virginia, we receive a 403 Forbidden Error. This has created several problems for patrons who are trying to research their families. Is there a way to correct the problem?

We apologize for this. It is a known issue and the engineers are aware of it and are working on it. The problem involves three collections, West Virginia births, West Virginia marriages and West Virginia deaths. It involves bad links to the site www.wvculture.org. The way to get around the problem, is to go directly to the site. Then scroll down to Records and Databases. Under the Explore Archives and History heading, you can click Births, Deaths and Marriages (databases) and search the databases directly until our link is fixed.

We apologize for the inconvenience and ask for your patience and understanding.

I'm not sure about the search directly from familysearch.org, but I was having problems accessing images from the West Virginia website. I found something that is now working and wanted to share the info.

This page is working for me to search, and then open images from the search results, in Chrome & Firefox:
    https://wvculture.org/vital-records-interactive/

I had been trying unsuccessfully to get images to display at the below old link, and had tried various recommended work arounds, including trying different browsers and browser settings, without success. It was VERY frustrating, but the above link works.

Hope this helps someone else to not have to go through what I did. Happy hunting, all!
