FamilySearch and Firefox
Dear,
I have the latest version of Firefox, and as of this week FS tells me to either use the latest version of my browser or get a different one. I do not want that. Please make FS suitable for the latest version of Firefox.
Greetings
Rita

Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
I use, the latest version ( 93.0 ) of 'Mozilla' "FireFox", with the latest version, of the "Operating System", of 'Microsoft' "Windows 10", and 'FamilySearch' works just fine.
Question(s):
What Version, of 'Mozilla' "FireFox", are you using?
What "Operating System", are you using?
[ Is the version of the "Operating System" up-to-date? ]
Please advise.

Just came across it myself - had this pop up when I tried to "Review Attachments":
On Linux Debian Bullseye (latest) using the package browser, Firefox 102.9.0esr ("extended support release").
Firefox is the best cross-platform browser, in my opinion, and highly standards-compliant. It deserves support.
I see if I check the Supported Browsers, FamilySearch does claim to support Firefox so it's apparently complaining that my version is "too old". The current standalone version is 111.0 but the Bullseye version is the most recent in their "extended support release" stream. Please, FamilySearch, don't force Linux users to install Firefox separately when a perfectly good version ships with the O/S.

@SheamusPatt, my Firefox reports it's version 111.0, so it's no surprise if the "out of date" message comes up on 102.9 -- FS manages its limited resources by only committing to support of the current and previous versions of browsers.

If they went by when it was last updated, rather than some arbitrary version, they'd see that it was updated on March 14, 2023 same as the 111.0 release. Updates on the ESR stream are limited to security updates though so if they're looking for some leading edge Javascript function or whatever it might not be there, but I think their "incompatible browser" checks are not that sophisticated. The 102 ESR stream is actually not that old - the first 102 version was released on June 28 2022.
I guess what I'd like to see is for FamilySearch to treat the Firefox ESR stream as a separate browser. That way their frequent version updates to the mainline stream wouldn't trigger the ESR releases (which are considered current in Linux repositories) from being flagged "incompatible" when they're likely perfectly fine. This has happened before.
In any case FamilySearch has a workaround - I can just tell it to ignore the apparent browser incompatibility. The option is on the "Please Upgrade your Browser" page (found on that nasty Browser Incompatible message). So far, it's working fine for me.
