STANDARDISED LOCATIONS: WAIRARAPA & NORTHLAND
I have been making some contributions to the standardised locations locations project, for New Zealand.
Locations in the Wairarapa district have a standardised district/region of Wellington.
Locations in Northland have a standardised district/region of Auckland.
These are quite distinctive regions of New Zealand and deserve to recognised as such.
Wairarapa being described as Wellington reflects it part of a province abolished in 1874.
Northland (or formerly North Auckland) is remote from the great city of Auckland and merits For example Kaitaia is more than 4 hours drive from Auckland. Can administrators refer these comments to the good people leading the project. Thanks.

Please be advised that the 'Place Names' for both, Australia; and, New Zealand, in 'FamilySearch' NEEDS a lot or work.
The 'Place Names', for both, Australia; and, New Zealand, in 'FamilySearch', originally seem to have been put together by those not from "Downunder'; hence, they need a lot of work.
At present, all we can do, is work with what we have.
Unless ...
IF, you have the 'Time' (and, a good knowledge of "Downunder"); THEN, there is always the opportunity to offer your services, to the "Authorities Team", of the "Standards Team", in 'FamilySearch', to HELP address/fix (ie. work on) the 'Place Names' for (here), "Downunder" (Australia; and, New Zealand), in the "Research/Places" Database in 'FamilySearch'.

Even if you are unable to help/assist at that level, there are some other options that are are available to help/assist the "Place Names" in 'FamilySearch':

(1) the Addition of, NEW "Place Names"; and/or,
(2) Amendment of/Correct to, EXISTING.

There is a specific 'Group', in the "Groups" Section of this Forum; where, "Requests" for both, (1) the addition of, NEW "Place Names"; and/or, (2) the amendment of/correct to, EXISTING "Place Names". in the "Place Names" Database in 'FamilySearch', can be submitted.
That 'Group' is monitored by the "Authorities Team", of the "Standards Team", of "Research Places", of the "Place Names" Database, in 'FamilySearch".
Please be aware that you will need to "Join" a 'Group', to post in a 'Group'.
