Indexing US, Massachusetts—Boston Tax Records, 1822–1918 [Part G]
Several entries have 2 Surnames i.e. Smith and Jones or Smith Jones and Company
Please elaborate on how I put these on the indexing lines - if there are 2 surnames names do I Put both names on the one Surname line ( or make 2 entries for that line?) and where would the “and Co” go
Thanks as always

We will need the Shared Batch code to look at this record. You can find it by looking at the Project Name you copied but at the very end. It is the code in brackets starting with the letter 'M' and has seven numbers and letters.

Please index each name in it's own entry if it is Smith and Jones. If it is Smith, James & Co index James Smith as the person in one entry. The Co is not a person's name so ignore that part.
Project Instructions, What to Remember about This Project, bullet points 4 and 5 give us an idea of what they want including the part about paying lose attention to the image to determine the order of the names. A certain amount of judgement is called for here.
- Index all names except those listed in the "Owner" or "Remarks" columns, or names of companies or trusts. Often, names of owners appear on the right side of the image; these names should not be indexed.
- Pay close attention to the images to determine the order of the Surname and the Given Names fields."
