Please help me make sure I understand how to index an image when it contains 2 or more clippings (obituaries and/or death notices) about 1 individual. I believe it is correct to make a separate deceased record for each clipping, even if they are only death notices, rather than combining the information from the several clippings into 1 record. I appreciate your help as I am finding contradictory discussions regarding this.

Hi Karen. To get the most accurate answer, you should post the batch code. It is dependent on which obituaries you are indexing as to how to index multiple obits for the same person. The instructions are different for different collections and currently they don't all follow the same patterns.

If it is Missouri, Various Counties, there is an instruction to index every single obit whether it is about the same individual or not.

    • Index each obituary independently from the other obituaries even if multiple obituaries are for the same deceased individual.

Please post the link to the batch, or post the share batch code of the project your question refers to.
