In an obituary, a sister is referred to as Mrs. Kenneth (Gladys) Wunderlich. Do I create 1 or 2
In obituaries, often a sister is referred to as Mrs. John (Jane) Doe. Do I create 1 or 2 entries? It is not Mr. & Mrs., just Mrs. John ( Jane) Doe.
Sorry this seems like a rudimentary question, but I'm just not remembering how to enter it and the instructions are not specific or I'm just not understanding.
Thanks for any help

I don't know about the instructions for indexing this - but my vote:
2 people: Kenneth Wunderlich (brother-in-law) and his wife Gladys Wunderlich (relation sister)
So I don't know if the instructions say different.

@pamash1 Thank you for your question regarding indexing names when the name of a spouse is included. In the ninth bullet point under "What To Remember About this Project" it states.
- "If a person’s name included the name of the spouse or was indicated together with the name of the spouse, index both names as separate records. For example, if the obituary lists “Mrs. Ben (Mary) Wilson” as a surviving daughter, you would index a record for Mrs Mary Wilson and then one for Ben Wilson. If the obituary instead gave the name as “Mrs. Ben Wilson,” you would index a record only for Mrs Ben Wilson, with the sex indexed as Female because of the prefix "Mrs."
In your example of Mrs. Kenneth (Gladys) Wunderflich there should be two entries. The first would be for Mrs. Gladys Wunderlich, and then the next should be for Kenneth Wunderlich. IF the record had said Mrs. Kenneth Wunderflich you would index only one person, a female Mrs. Kenneth Wunderflich. It has helped me to remember that if I see a name listed in parenthesis then there should be two names indexed.
I hope this information has been helpful. Thank you for your diligence in indexing these important historical records. If you need more help please don't hesitate to ask another question.
