Alameda Superior Court Naturalization records.
I am looking for the Naturalization records that were issued in Superior court in Alameda county in California. Alameda county is listed as available in the California County Naturalizations, 1831-1985
but when you look into the collection, there is no Alameda County listed. My ancestors Naturalization records were mis indexed long ago. When you look at the index, he is listed as being on page B 80, but when you go to that page, it is another individual. I am told by the records manager at the superior court of alameda that the chances of finding it are slim to none. If I could search these records myself I could scour through every image to try to locate hime. He lists 10/18/1876 in 2 different voter registration forms that he was naturalized on that date, but I am having problems finding the orginals of these records. Any ideas?

Thank you so much for this! It helped me alot. I was able to find the document that was imisndexed. That led me to another hint from my ancestor. The record I found the indexed document was Application for citizenship, court records, naturalization record: Naturalization record book application for citizenship:District Court. ca 1875-1879, image 82. (https://www.familysearch.org/records/images/image-details?page=1&place=327&lifeEvent=127180&endDate=1874&startDate=1870&rmsId=M992-4CK&imageIndex=0) In this document, it states that Hugh filed a declartion of intention to become a citizen of the United States issued out of the clerk's office of the 15th District Court of the county of Contra Costa, state of Cal dated August 21 1873. With 2 witnesses, one I can read the name of, the other not sure at all what it is! I have searched under images under Cal as well as Contra Costa district court and nothing comes up. I have also looked on the Contra Costa court website but there is no links at all for old records. I am wondering if these records were ever indexed or digitalized? Will the information on the declaration he filed share his personal info, such as where he is from, height whether married etc? If he filed this in Contra Costa Court, he must have lived there 1873 and moved Oakland as in by 1876?

Early applications for naturalization contained very little information. And, because many different courts had the power to grant naturalization, what was required and what was retained varies greatly from place to place.
