A patron asked this week if there is a way to search "recently added" collections using the new "Search Records" engine. Does anyone know if t his is possible?

    @FayeLynnStallings

    I have been complaining for some years that recently added material is insufficiently detailed, so there is no way of telling exactly what specifically might have been added. Surely, FamilySearch keeps logs that detail what new material is being added but, if so (and unlike other websites I use) that information is not provided to its users. I have wasted many hours in trying to identify newly added records (especially those added to existing collections), without being able to find the detail. (For example, if I am trying to ascertain if the new records are for a particular parish, type, or specific year range.)

    I am particularly referring to my experience with the Monthly Record Updates in the FamilySearch "Blog", but - to directly answer your question - no, there is no way of searching just on these recently added collections, by using "Search Records", or by any other means.

    (See the page at https://www.durhamrecordsonline.com/index.php?q=1&cookiecheck=1 to see how we could at least be advised of what is "New".
