I was indexing a batch that had newspaper clippings of obituaries and there were 2 sets of 2 that were exactly alike, so I was wondering if we index them twice or skip over it since I indexed it once already? there was clippings that were not obits either so I skipped over them too. There were like 11 articles and you can't put no extractable data because some entries are and some are not, thank you

If it is Missouri, Various Counties Obits then you index them twice. You do skip over the births, and marriages.

    • Index each obituary independently from the other obituaries even if multiple obituaries are for the same deceased individuals.

I have seen more than one obituary for the same person but they were worded differently, the ones I saw that I question about is the exact duplicate article obit

I don't know, @Pennyrose. I agree it would be crazy to index the duplicated obituary that has NO differences. I am not even sure why we aren't combining information from multiple obits about the same person for this specific project. I think in the case of EXACT duplicates of the same obit, we could use our best judgment and only index the information once since the goal is to bring the researcher to the image. But, if there was so much as a different name, or date, or even a middle initial on the "multiple" obituary, I would index them both. Just my opinion though.
