Community Upgrade - 13 October 2021 Update
Greetings Friends,
Ahead of the upcoming changes on 1st November 2021, we will be making some adjustments this week to the current community layout. While most changes will be behind the scenes, there will be some changes made to the category structure, so we'd like to communicate them ahead of time:
- All categories under Ideas will be consolidated into a single category titled "Suggest an Idea".
- We will be eliminating a few Help Center Categories that are rarely used.
These changes are being made to be clearer on where you should suggest an idea, as well as help improve navigating through the community to get/give help related to FamilySearch.org
Warm Regards,
FamilySearch

@Mark McLemore Where will all the current discussions/comments etc now under the various Idea categories land ? Under the one new Ideas category Suggest An Idea or will they be moved elsewhere under Q & A or what?

Hello @Chas Howell,
Great question. All discussions/comments from the Idea categories will be moved into the Suggest an Idea category. It will remain as a separate category, not being embedded under Q & A.
Best,
Mark

@Mark McLemore thank you and your team for the hard work you all are doing to make this community simplified and easier to use.. at least I think that is your goal. 😀

Thank you @Sheila DuBois, we really appreciate the kind words. Simple and easy to use is the goal!

Aha, so this post did answer the question I posted a short time ago on another iteration of this announcement.
Hopefully the upcoming change will eliminate (or minimize) these 'duplicate' posting which can be 'answered' or commented on in multiple places. (An excellent example is MANY places where MANY comments have been made about the deficiencies of the new "Search" mechanism. Hopefully someone 'in charge' has been able to consolidate them all and make a good decision based on the overwhelming USER's desire to at least allow the use of the previous "Search" mechanism. (Not to mention the years long controversy of GEDCOM's)

Hello @CaptBob,
Yes, we are planning on minimizing these types of duplicate efforts between some system & process changes. The search example you shared is a great example of the need to improve how we communicate in the community.
Best,
Mark
