This batch was very time consuming. Please continue to work on it with me. Thank you!

    Hello @Jan Laureen.

There are a couple of things that you need to do with this batch.

When there is no information to fill in a field, we don't type in No, No Extractable Data. We mark the field blank using the Ctrl + B Keys. You can read more about this by clicking on the purple question mark that appears when you click on a field.

On these mortgage records you create a new entry for each person. So, the first two entries would be 1 for Drusella McGowan and Georgianna Brewer and the next entry would be for Franklin H McGowan and Georgianna Brewer. Then you would create two records for the McCahill's (John and Sarah H) and Owen Byrne, and so on. If there were two Mortgagees for each transaction then you have to account for those as well (for instance, there could be 4 records or more for each transaction).

You can pull up the project instructions at any time by clicking on the last icon on the toolbar.

    • If multiple mortgagors or mortgagees were listed for a single transaction, index information about each one using separate entries in the data entry area.
    • Index the names of wives recorded in the mortgagor or mortgagee name columns as a separate mortgagor or mortgagee. When the wife's given names are listed on the same line as the husband's surname, the husband's surname should be entered as the wife's surname. Do not create a separate entry if only the word "wife" was recorded.

If you are new to indexing, this is a difficult batch and project. There would be no harm in returning it for someone else to finish. Click on Batch, and Return Batch if you choose to do that. The Boston Tax Records is a good project if you are just beginning to index. Remember too that these have time limits. You generally have 7 days to complete a batch.

Hope that helps. Ask more questions if needed!

    Melissa
