Has familysearch lost its index to the Dowlish Wake parish register?

I have been regularly running an internet course on English sources for genealogy in the 17th century for the last ten years. One of the questions I pose to my students is as follows:

Exercise 1J. Mary Hockey was baptised at Dowlish Wake, Somerset, in 1699. According to the Family Search database, who were her parents? How would you discover the source of the database’s information?

Students in the past have always been able to answer this question. However, a student on the current course has pointed out that the relevant entry now cannot be found in the database. I have checked the wiki entry for Dowlish Wake, which states that the parish register is still on the familysearch database. Has the index to it disappeared? Could someone please explain what has happened? I have verified that the same entry canbe found on the Ancestry database. Many thanks

    @Stuart Raymond Not sure specifically what record set you are wanting your students to find. A quick search of the catalog turns up 4 sets of Church records for Dowlish-Wake--2 entries for bishop's transcripts and 2 entries for parish registers. The bishop's transcripts that would cover 1699 show as not indexed and the images restricted to viewing in a family history center or affiliate library. One entry for parish registers likewise shows as unindexed and the images restricted to viewing in a family history center or affiliate library. The other set shows as indexed, but the index is not available for public searching. That restriction is not obvious, since you can click the icon, but get no results. We are told that they are working on a better way to let folks know when an index is restricted.

    It is true that a lot of our records from England have recently become more restricted as our contracts with record custodians have changed. We apologize for the frustration that can cause. Unfortunately, the wiki is often not kept very up to date as far as what can and can't be viewed online.

    @Stuart Raymond

    FYI

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    I gather your are referring to:

    ▬ the FHL Film number 1526604 ( DGS number 4021888 ) of "Index", with "Images",

    image.png

    ▬ or, possibly, also now the FHL DGS number 5849478 of "Images" ONLY, without an "Index".

    image.png

    Either way, it would appear that BOTH Films may have "Restrictions", depending on one's level of access.

    [ And, that is BOTH, the "Index"; and, the associated "Images" ... ]

    And, as such, possibly available, at a "Family History Centre" of the Church; or, may be an "Affiliate Library".

    Maybe, the "Contractual Arrangements/Agreements" between, 'FamilySearch'; and, the "Record Custodian" have changed (ie. been 'Updated'), of late.

    Just a thought.
