John Hawk, 1813–1901 • KL2V-PRB
My grandmother (Ella Marie Hawk, 1903–1986 - • LD9J-WR5, said her father Wm Hawk 1855–1929, • LD95-5RR was full-blooded Irish. I cannot find any record of this. I cannot find this particular John Hawk prior to his marriage to Hette Shook in 1850. There are a few John Hawks in this area about the same time though. Can anyone help me to locate this John Hawk? Is he from Ireland?

You can play a good detective by reviewing any sources associated with him, Hette, and their children his father, mother and each of his siblings. Look at all of their collaboration notes and memories as well. Here is a link where you can record the information you find about him on a research log. https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/downloadable-forms-for-family-history-center-patrons There are two research log options. I always find it helpful to record what we know and find on paper so that you don't end up spinning your wheels. Record where you looked what you found and what date you found it. Eventually the puzzle pieces will begin to come together.
I do see some other people that are working on this person in the collaboration and discussion section. You can contact them through FamilySearch and work together on this mystery. Here are a few articles that may help.
