New search Women maiden & married name

In the old search function if I added the spouse to a woman it would return records with both her maiden & married name.

The new search function returns only for the maiden name originally entered. I have attempted this on the main page under search, records, entered the name, place, year then added the spouse & attempted from the person page right hand side family search, +spouse, enter the spouse.

Simple way to fix this you may say is to search from main page w/the married name of the woman to begin with. Yes, that works but returns many more records, as then I am getting women w/maiden name & married name for that surname.

The only way I have been able to get the records to show up correctly is to add the married name as an alternate name for the woman. This still results in many more records than the old function would have returned as it is returning women w/both a maiden name & a married name so x4 the # of results.

I would appreciate if someone could look into the coding gobbledeegoop :) I am not a computer person but recognize something was changed when the new search was implemented.

The new search function is less efficient & accurate for women than the old way it was done. Somehow it was able to read the maiden & married name before & limit the results more accurately.

Thank you for all you do. My research would be no where without your wonderful work.

Sincerely,

NillaRita

    Hello Nilla Rita,

Yes, there are probably improvements that the engineers may be able to change. The best place for your comment is to go to the new search function page, then click on Feedback that is located on the right side near the slide bar. Click on Feedback, then click on Specific feedback or Generic feedback, then copy and paste and save your above comment for the engineers to review.
