Clarification of record number to be indexed US, Missouri—Naturalization Records, 1843–1991 [Part C]
I am reviewing some of the Missouri Naturalization cards and there are multiple potential record numbers captured upon each different card. The instructions given on the project are not overly helpful (they don't spell out which to accomplish) and there don't seem to be two distinct record examples similar to the records within the project. What is the appropriate record # to record? Thank you for your help.

You are right, the project instruction unfortunately do not show these examples. Look at other naturalization records, you will see that the number at the top of the page is the record number you use.

Thank you for the help. I did find that the second image is an example within the project which shows the second number as the desired input, but that first image is definitely different. I will stick to the top number unless there are other inputs from the forum. Thanks gain.

I believe that in your first example you would use the number at the top, because it has "no." by it per the instructions, and because the other number is a "petition number" and the instructions say NOT to use the petition number because it is the record or certificate number. But, for the second image, I have been using the second number, as it is listed as a "certificate number".
