Problem with new search interface: Search by Place only works in English

They can't have been thinking this through properly: regardless of what language you have the interface set to, entering Magyarország in the Search by Place gives no results. Clicking Browse Places and typing Magyarország in that search box also gives "No Results".

Oh, and clicking More Options on the search fields obscures the Search by Place section. This is an absolutely horrible design decision, one which I pointed out when the new interface was first announced here (in beta). Apparently, our feedback is actually pointless.

Yep. Both the gazetteering and language localization on FT is very incomplete. And the interaction between these two conceptual pieces is inherently complex.

The US National Science Foundation has been pouring money into comparable system integration projects for decades, supporting a wide variety of federated natural history collection databases.
