Bug? Community notification red dot is gone

New as of a few hours ago, my notification bell no longer gets a red dot and my notification list no longer shows a blue dot on un-read items in the list.

I did see that earlier today - but had a 3rd party permission for FamilySearch Community - pushed to me - I do not know whether the behavior changed at that point. I think the red-dot and the 'unread notifications' were not well synched to begin with - there was a lag. Anyway you can check your notification settings but there isn't one for 'red-dot'.

Dots are back now, sort of. There curious inconsistencies.
