My spouse and I can't find each other...
I have been married for just 2 and a half years and I can't find my spouse to add him into my family tree. When I put in his reference number it say's "not found". When he tries to add me it does the same. For him this is a second marriage, but I know that you can add multiple spouses because I have ancestors in my tree with them.

Kerry,
The issue you describe is exactly the way that FamilySearch/Family Tree is created to function to preserve the privacy of living people. You and your spouse will not be able to add each other using the ID number found in the account of the other person. Living people can only be entered by using the vital information for that person and entering it directly. The link here describes how living people are viewed, and not viewed, when working in Family Tree: https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/what-is-a-private-space-in-family-tree
Please also note the very important and valuable Related Articles near the bottom of this linked article as the information there is also helpful in working in FamilySearch/Family Tree.

The above answer is really correct. You add your spouse and other living relatives and then attach them to their deceased family members. This way the trees will balloon out with any information attached to them in family tree. The living Id record individuals remain in your private spaces until someone passes away and you change from living to deceased and then their record becomes a public record. At this time you will also want to merge with any duplicates that pop up and bring all the memories into one place for all. Best wishes! You have so many wonderful things to discover, and it never ends.

Hope the article suggested above fully answered your question.
This issue often generates questions, and these may have been answered previously. Before posting a question, it may be helpful to you to check if this topic has been addressed previously - You can add keywords (in this case 'ID numbers' or 'living people' ) to the search bar, and other similarly themed questions will appear and may provide you with a quicker answer.
All the best with your future research.

Thankyou. Have read the article but I'm still a little confused. I did also check the FAQ's and articles before but was still confused.
If I try to add my spouse using his details (not ID) it just asks me to create a new person. But then I don't understand how he has his ex-wife on his tree and it is her actual account with all of her family free linked in?? He did all that so long ago he doesn't remember how.
In the article is says "You transfer a record of a living person from a database that you manage in a third-party program." What does this mean and how do you do it??
Sorry if i'm missing something obvious or not understanding correctly.

@kerrylouisebrown To help you with your question, please sign into FamilySearch and go to your personal detail page. Once there scroll down to Family Members and locate yourself. Next click on Add Spouse, add your husband's Vitals information. That being his name and birthdate and birth place. Do not use an ID# number you have obtained from anywhere else.
Once he has been added, add his parents. If they are deceased, use their ID# obtained from your husband's Family Tree. If they are still living, you will need to Add Parents and fill in their Vital information. And so on until you reach individuals who are found in the Family Tree. You cannot use ID# for living persons obtained from any other persons Family Tree. Those living individuals fall into the Private Spaces and can only be seen by the person who added them to the Family Tree.
I hope this answer will help you. If you need further assistance, please post here.
By the way, the ex-wife was added by your husband to the Family Tree.

Kerry,
If you are still having issues, it may be helpful to call FamilySearch Support at 1-866-406-1830 to work on the phone with a support person who could share your screen with you if that could be helpful, also.
