I am trying to upload a some land records and am getting a "duplicate" msg. They aren't duplicates. I even changed the file names and it is still giving me the duplicate message.

    @Lauri H.

    The system checks more than filename to indicate duplicates. For example - the other day I uploaded a picture - and saw that I needed to enlarge it. I edited the picture and attempted to upload it - resulting in the 'duplicate' message - which strictly was correct - it was an edit of a picture already uploaded. I had to delete both before I could upload the image I wished. If the duplicate is not from your upload - but from another user - I do not know how to resolve that duplication - other than you would need to locate that prior upload in the gallery.

    I hope you can get the duplicates sorted and upload the version you wish!

    @Lauri H. Genthusiast is correct that you can not delete a memory that has been uploaded by another contributor, but you should only get the duplicate image message on images you uploaded. By checking in you Memory>Gallery you may discover you had already uploaded that memory previously. If that is the case you may tag it to another person, without uploading it a second time.

    They aren't images but rather pdf documents. They are not duplicates.

    @Lauri H.

    It sounds like a special FamilySearch team might need to help you - if the document is not a duplicate then the message should not occur. Perhaps chat with a Community Admin will get the attention you need @Caleb L

    Thanks. That's what I was thinking too. I'm going to try to upload again tomorrow and if it doesn't work will try chat. There are so many documents I had to break it into multiple parts because my scan software would overload.

    Chatted with FS support today and indeed it was a duplicate. It was confusing as when I went to Gallery from the Memories section of the person, the PDF files didn't show up on the list. Which maybe didn't make a difference anyway in the solution but was interesting. She had me go to Gallery at the very top and then to Memories and there were some untitled documents there which indeed were the duplicates. Here is what happened. There were 7 files and initially I tried to upload them all together. It was taking forever so I quit and came back to it the next day. Well, 3 of the files did upload but were not tagged in the process. Anyway, I could tag them from the Gallery/Memories and get them to where they belonged.
