When a new user joins, detail view is turned OFF by default. This needs to be turned ON by default so that NEW people don't keep changing the same thing Over and over and over. PLEASE!

Upvoting. This was a stumbling block for me as a newcomer. Hiding content initially is appropriate only when newcomers are guided, which perhaps is the usual experience for LDS members but not for everyone else.

This seems to be the latest style in UI design, one which FS has unfortunately embraced wholeheartedly: for a properly streamlined user experience, all actual content and functionality must be hidden under a minimum of two layers of clicks, but five would be better. The new search interface is an excellent example. I liken it to those stupid kitchen cabinets that require you to open two doors so that you can pull out the drawer so that you can open the storage bin.
