I am looking for advice/guidance on how to correct an error I made on my family tree. My error was listing August Fredrick Batzel K24L-KG5 as a child of Christian Ludwig Paetzel 96ZY-HYY and Louisa Goetzl 96ZY-HY1. I do not know how to correct the error. To compound the issue, I have a typed genealogy Paetzel Family Tree (from the 1980's) by a relative stating that August Batzel was born in Germany to Christian Paetzel (6/1/1830 -10/26/1910) and Minnie Brooks (German spelling Bache) {they also had two daughters Marie and Augusta}. Oral tradition says she (Minnie) died in Childbirth. Later in the narrative it says August ran away from home at age of 12 because his step mother (Louisa Goetzel) was so mean to him. The narrative also says on August 7, 1984 Ausgust's grand daughter Ethel Field found and visited Doris Eisen (granddaughter of August's half brother). Until that day the Michigan (Paetzel) branch did not know the Minnesota branch existed and the Minnesota (Batzel) branch did not know if there was still a Michigan branch.
Unfortunately I only have the statements in the typed genealogy family tree and no official records to back up the statements.
I would like to correct the family tree to show the relationships but I have no records and do not know how to correct my mistake.
Advice/guidance would be appreciated.
