Change Tree Starting Person Setting in Tree
In FS account settings you can edit Tree starting person that appears next time login to FS. This idea is to have the same option in Person pages - or perhaps an option in Tree view - selection this option would change the account setting option.
Advantage: more visibility and convenience than in account settings.
Disadvantage: another option on person pages.
Note: current account setting change does not affect app starting person

The Starting Person setting is now working in Tree. The suggested Idea now becomes having that setting more visible in Tree - probably in Person Card> either an icon with similar text/tooltip (Set as Current Research/Starting Person). Yes I realize extending the Starting Person list could push Recents further down, etc. etc. - my reasoning and a couple other Ideas are mentioned in the above/attached post.

I would like it if I could have multiple research trees in Familysearch. FindmyPast and Ancestry have this feature. I would love it if I could focus on the one person I am researching instead of always having my one tree connected to myself. It would save time if I could just pick which tree I'm going to work on, and focus on that one and the person who is the main person in that one.

Remember that, unlike Ancestry etc, there is only one tree albeit a long way from being wholly linked together.
@Paul W 's suggestion is a good one particularly if you want to keep track of many different people.
A simpler solution is to use the Recents button that allows you to go to any of the last 50 people you have viewed.

The only problem in your suggestion (for many users) is that they are likely to have viewed more than 50 people in a day or two, so cannot get back to someone they were working on during even the previous week by using the Recents list. In any case, it is my experience (though I have never read others reporting the problem) that not all the IDs I have viewed (even in the previous few hours) actually do make their way to Recents list!
