Why does FamilySearch Community not log you out when you close the window?
I was using FamilySearch today and logged in to my account on a shared computer. I clicked on the ? and came over to FamilySearch Community and started to ask a question when I realized FS Community was logged in but not to my account. Instead it was still logged in to the account of some one who had used the computer several days ago. I had no idea that FS Community did not log you out when you closed the window. The computer is set up to not save passwords so it's not a case of it entering it for me - it never logged out when the window was closed last time FS Community was used. Why is FS Community set up this way? Especially since it will not carry over my login from FamilySearch?

Dear Guest,
Thank you for contacting FamilySearch. We apologize for our slow response to your email. We are changing to a new support system which has delayed our response.
To log out of FamilySearch Community, click on your name and click on "Log Out". FamilySearch will not automatically log you out.
Going forward, we ask that you contact us by posting your question or issue in FamilySearch Community (www.community.familysearch.org). After signing in to Community using your FamilySearch account username and password, post your question or issue by clicking on “Q and A” in the left column. Next click on your Category and then on “Ask a Question.” We also offer phone and chat support (see https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/contact-familysearch-support).
Sincerely,
FamilySearch Support

Was the shared computer public, like at a library? Libraries usually are good about session management, so once you are done all your cookies get deleted.
If the shared computer was at home, do you also share one user account with others in your household? You have the option of setting up separate user accounts on the home computer. That is a good way to prevent accidental impersonations.

Just a thought but perhaps your computer is set up to autosign in with FamilySearch/Community?
If you go into your browser settings (3 dots at top right on Google Chrome) scroll down to autofill and look at which websites have their passwords saved there.
If FamilySearch is listed, click on the 3 dots to the right and REMOVE
Perhaps worth a try? I have known people to have had similar problems before where an old password was autosaved by the system preventing them from signing in
Hope you manage to get this resolved

Why does FamilySearch Community not log you out when you close the window?
Because many contributors like to use more than one window at a time. I want to be logged out when I choose to log myself out, not before then.
