Riberhus and Koldinghus County in Denmark does not exist!
FamilySearch has made a serious error, adding "Riberhus" and "Koldinghus" as counties in Denmark. There is no such counties in Denmark! The right names is "Ribe" county and "Vejle" county. The error means, that the many locations that before was approved by the small icon at the left side now has disappeared. Please restore the right georaphical names, so it works like i use to do. Thank you so much. - Soren Norgaard

They are NOT "approval icons". Their absence is in no way, shape, or form a problem on any level whatsoever.
The only time there is a problem is if there is a red exclamation mark icon.
The only thing the map pin indicates is that the displayed value is exactly the same as the database value in the current interface language. The database value is just a label for the database entry; it was (rightly) deemed to be much more user-friendly than a string of alphanumeric gibberish.

@Soren Norgaard We have noted your concern about the error in Danish counties. Please follow the link below to submit your request to FamilySearch.
You may want to follow those procedures for each location or combine them.

Looking in the Places database Riberhus and Koldinghus both have the date range of 1662 to 1793. Searching around I did find one reference for each:
"On 19 October 1697, he was appointed amtmann of the Amt of Riberhus..." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_Schack,_2nd_Count_of_Schackenborg
So these were old names for amts. But those should certainly not be the only choices for place names.
Looking at a random place in Velje, https://www.familysearch.org/research/places/?focusedId=8896389, I do see three time periods, all of which should be available in Family Tree. One with Koldinghus which is lacking appropriate time periods, two with Velje with time periods 1793 to 1970 and 1970 to 2007. If this is how places were added in general, there should be appropriate standards that can be used. Can you give an example of one of these places where you are seeing the problem? I'd be interested in looking closer at this.

Thank you for explaining the new changes in FamilySearch.
Since the changes in Family Search, adding Riberhus and Koldinghus, it has left many records in error that use to be approved by the small icon at the left side. Now most records are left without the approval icons.
My grandfathers record, Peter Dall, KHRR-7FB use to have the the approval icons at the left side, but now they are all gone. The same is the case of thousinds of records in Ribe and Vejle county. If the icons has to appear again, we have to type all the geographical names all over again. This is simply to much to ask!
For a period of time it was not possible to write: Vejen, Vejen, Ribe, Denmark. Instad it was only possible to write: Vejen, Vejen, Riberhus, Denmark, wich was wrong, according that specific time period. Now its possible again to write: Vejen, Vejen, Ribe, Denmark. BUT, all the records that was written before the changes, has lost their approval icons, and left a lot of damage.

To expand just a little bit on Julia's statement, I'll just mention a few things.
For those of us working in areas of the world where thousands of places are missing or incomplete in the database, those map pins are nothing but a problem when people not familiar with the situation try to force map pins by deleting correct place information.
The presence of the map pin means only two things: that the name typed in by the user matches exactly the main name found in the Places database and that the latitude and longitude of that entry in the database will be where the map pin on the timeline map will be found. Example that will have a map pin:
- Entered data: Digernes, Stord, Hordaland, Norway
- Standardized version: Digernes, Stord, Hordaland, Norway
The absence of the map pin means only two things: that the name typed in differs in spelling from or is an alternate name for the entry which as been picked as the standardized version from the Places database or the place does not exist in the Places database and the map pin on the timeline map will be one geographical level up from that place. Examples that will not have a map pin:
- Entered data: Degranæs, Stordøen, Hordaland, Norge
- Standardized data: Digernes, Stord, Hordaland, Norway
- Entered data: Klubben, Digernes, Stord, Hordaland, Norway
- Standardized data: Digernes, Stord, Hordaland, Norway
Both of these are completely correct, acceptable, and allow for full functioning of Family Tree and neither have will have map pins. Map pins do not need to appear and depending on the part of the world you are working in may never appear.
If you have never explored the Places database, you will find the entry for Vejen, Vejen, Ribe, Denmark here: https://www.familysearch.org/research/places/?focusedId=6536874
Notice that it has three historical time periods, Unknown, 1793-1970, 1970-2007. Each period has a different name for that period but they all have the same latitude and longitude, which means that even though you are using the name for the 1970 to 2007 period, and it is standardized to the Unknown time period, the map pin points to the spot on the timeline map, and all routines in Family Tree, which look only at the latitude and longitude, aka geocode, for places will consider all these to be identical.
This entry in the Places database is still not complete because the Unknown time period should be Unknown-1792, and there should be fourth period of 2007- Today.
This a a long winded way to say, "nothing is broken with your places, don't worry about the map pins as long the timeline map shows the correct place unless you know a twelve year old with sufficient computer skills to wander through your lines and change the standards to get the map pins back."
