Dear Community,

Do you know how to start a new indexing project here? I’ve scanned a bunch of old church books that are already available in FamilySearch in Russian language (from 1835 to 1865), but not yet indexed and have a lot of notes to them.

thanks

FamilySearch needs the permission of the record custodian/owner to index records, and must manage competing priorities. FS, not its users, decides when to start new indexing projects.

If you scanned the records, then you must have made contact with the custodian and negotiated a contract allowing FamilySearch to scan the records. Perhaps that contract also allows FS to index, but they haven't found the time and resources to do so yet. If the contract does not allow for indexing, then the contract will need to be renegotiated.

Hopefully a FS staff member will see this, and can investigate to see what needs to happen before these records can be indexed.

Thanks for your answer. I really didn’t no that there is too much bureaucracy behind.
