Another relative has recorded Adam's birth on FamilySearch as Adam Bowie Gibb. How should these events be recorded on familySearch?

Generally, the name in the Details section should be the "Birth Name" which would be derived from the birth certificate. However, if other documentation exists that shows his actual name as something different it would be correct to show that as hit "name". Generally speaking, more information is better than less and more usually helps to more accurately identify a person. HOWEVER, if you would like to make note of these differences, the OTHER INFORMATION section of the Person Page is the place where you would do this. It is important to note all the sources which show these differences. Hope this helps.

    Hello @InnesAndrewWilliamJames1,

Are you referring to Adam Bowie Gibb 17 April 1865 – 23 November 1930  • K87X-SWN and how his name should be recorded?

If so, you can see in the third source down on the Source link on his Person Page shows his middle name. Click on View Source or the title to see what it in it. You can use the name on the death record as his full name on the Person Page.

    1. Navigate to the person page of the relative whose source you want to view.
    2. Click the Sources tab.
    3. Click the title of the source (Scotland/England Civil Death Record) or View Source to see any available additional information, such as contributors, attachments, tags, images, and citations.
