I received a message through FamilySearch from 2ldgilpin. I would like to respond to her but when I went to messages in the upper right corner and typed 2ldgilpin in the TO box, typed in my message and hit send, I got a message saying "unable to send message." How can I reply to her?

When I click on reply at the end of the message it addresses it to no reply at FamilySearch, not to 2ldgilpin.

If you received the message through FamilySearch you should be able to select Reply to send her a message.

@MaryHand, that screenshot shows your email program, not FamilySearch's messaging system.

To send a message to a FamilySearch user using FamilySearch's messaging system, go to any FS page (besides here in the Community), for example https://www.familysearch.org, sign in, and click the "text bubble" icon at the upper right:

At the bottom of the resulting drop-down, click Show All Messages. On the resulting Messages page, click the teal New Message button at the top left. Type or copy-and-paste the user's ID into the To: field at the top, then type your message into the (teeny-tiny) Message box at the bottom.

The message you received from 2ldgilpin could be found on your notification list. Here are the steps to follow so you can see it:

Steps (website)

1. Sign in to FamilySearch.org and click the Notifications icon. This is the bell or alarm-shaped figure at the upper right of the screen near your name.
2. The FamilySearch Notifications preview appears. You can scroll through the messages as they appear inside the preview. Click the notification that you would like to read.
3. To go to FamilySearch Notification's inbox, click SHOW ALL NOTIFICATIONS.
4. On the left, you see a list of notifications. Click the notification that you would like to read. The notification message will appear to the right of the column.
5. To delete one of the notifications, click the small box next to the notification.
   1. The delete icon will appear at the top of the column.
   2. Click the delete icon.
