It would be helpful if all place names when entering info onto tree came up together, ie Axminster parish, Axminster Town pre 1801, Axminster Town 1801-present day, Axminster Poor Law, Axminster Registration District etc rather than being spread through some very obscure places with similar names throughout the world.

If your idea is feasible, I would certainly agree. I have often thought there was no appropriate option to select from a drop down list, as all the variants (say for your Axminster example) are not always grouped by same location. I often have to carry on typing to the final ("United Kingdom") suffix before the option I require appears (i.e. for an English town for the relevant period - say Axminster, post-1801).

I don't know how easy it would be to program the available standard options list, so the place names appear in the manner you suggest, but it would certainly be useful to me.

I also find the Registration District difficult as you need to know the county in London area though sometimes typing town name then "reg" works.

    Place names .............

All Saints' Church, Wigan, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom is a typical Christening location for those working in the records of England. The location is listed as a 'Place of Worship 1086-1974'.

It should actually be listed as two places, since the United Kingdom did not exist until 1801.

Saint Mary The Virgin Church, Blackburn, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom does not come up as a place name.

What does appear is Blackburn Cathedral, Blackburn, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom. Blackburn Cathedral became the designation of the Saint Mary The Virgin Church parish church in 1923 when the Blackburn Diocese was created.

Place names that should be available are:

Saint Mary The Virgin Church, Blackburn, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom (1801-1923)

Blackburn Cathedral, Blackburn, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom (1923 ... )
