My Great GrandAunt, Katharina Korell Buchelberger was born in Hesse-Darmstadt on 1March1830.
Her husband, Bernard Buchelberger was born in Bavaria in 1824. Could you identify towns
close to Darmstadt where he could have lived? The family history tends to identify
Franconia with his birthplace but we have never found the exact place. We are
glad to research more than one town to find his birth place. Would Archion have the
records for him? Thank you for your help. Pat Rigby

Hesse-Darmstadt was a nation in Germany: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Duchy_of_Hesse
Here's a good map of Hesse-Darmstadt, later known as the Grand Duchy of Hesse: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Duchy_of_Hesse#/media/File:Hessen1930.png
99% of Archion's records are Protestant. It's a subscription website. Ancestry.com also has some Protestant German church records. Matricula is a free website with a limited number of Catholic records. Many Catholic records can be found in the FamilySearch Catalog, but you'll need to be at a FHC or Affiliate Library to view them.
