Indexing in 1848 for Pyritz, Pommern, Prussia, Germany was done. The indexer listed the event type as "Burial". It is not a list of burials but a list of "confirmations" in the Lutheran faith. How does the type of event get corrected. I couldn't find anywhere in https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:6Z6Q-CG42 to bring this error to anyone's attention...so I used "report abuse" and was told - nope it's not abuse and where I was directed was absolutely NO HELP at all.

This error of type is frustrating cause most of the Heidemann-Hampel children, who are my 1st cousins 3x removed, I'm researching are indexed as buried in 1844, 1848, and 1854.

Anyone have a "place" I can go to point out the error for type of indexing that was done.

@CarolineWolfgrammIrwin1 Unfortunately, we do not currently have a way to report indexing errors such as the one you reported in which the indexer identified the event incorrectly. We do not have a mechanism for re-indexing record sets. Where the record is editable, we suggest that you edit it for your ancestor. Since the event type is not editable in this record collection, you can add notes about the error when you attach it as a source to an ancestor.

Our engineers are exploring options to make it easier to correct all indexing errors. We apologize that our volunteer indexers do make mistakes. And hope you can find ways to use the records in spite of errors.

Thank you for your speedy response. I have left notes both in my personal family history program and on Family Search, I've removed the "burial" date from vitals and left my note that it was confirmations. I'm grateful for volunteer indexers and their efforts - it provided me with proof of who were the surviving six children for my relatives in 1843.

Aloha and blessings for the work that Family Search and the many volunteers provide.
