Missouri records labeled as Alberta, Canada
While this page of the document does not show this is in Missouri, the header on the image says these are Missouri county marriages and indicates they are from Jasper. However they have been indexed as being in Jasper, Alberta, Canada. This needs to be fixed as it makes it very difficult to find these records when you search for them. It is also confusing when they show up as a hint because I know the couple was not married in Canada.
More care needs to be taken in the final processing of indexing so that this kind of error does not happen. This is the 2nd group of Missouri marriage records for this same couple that have had the incorrect information put in for the State. As it has been applied to all the records it is clear it was done in the final processing not by the individual indexers.
Also this film needs to be reviewed because a number of the images have not been indexed. For example image 25 is indexed, but image 26 is not, then images 27, 28, 29 are indexed, but images 30 and 31 are not indexed. It continues this hit and miss pattern through out the film. It could be that none of the images should have been indexed as this is clearly an index to the marriages (we don't usually index an index) or it could be that this index was supposed to be indexed but some indexers did not understand that and marked records as no extractable data. If you are unlucky enough to have your ancestors name on one of the pages that was not indexed it makes it really hard to find them.
@malich Our apologies that your question was not answered for so long! We are trying to get to these old posts and be sure that things were resolved for you.
Just so you know for future issues, the people who monitor the Indexing category focus on active indexing projects. For issues with collections where the indexing is complete and published, it is better to post your question in the Search category.
We opened the Missouri, County Marriages, Naturalization, and Court Records, 1800-1991 record collection to see the issue you raised. We searched for any records with a place of Jasper, Alberta, Canada and found none. So, it appears that this issue with the collection has been resolved.
Unfortunately, after an indexing project has closed, they do not reopen them to get images that were missed indexed. We apologize that some of the images were not indexed. We do notice in the collection description the sentence: "This project is being published as images and index data become available." So there is still hope that missed indexing is coming.0
