Batch indexed incorrectly
Is this the correct group for this post?
This batch appears to be indexed as Mississippi and it should be Massachusetts. There is no Berkshire county in Mississippi.
Thank you.

Jannette,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. It is an example of a place name being incorrectly standardized for an entire film.
Your question will be forwarded to a specialty team for review and resolution. You may be contacted by that team if they need to gather more information.

As I have researched the question before sending it on to review, I have found that only 6 pages of the 22 pages of the film were incorrectly indexed (pages, 5, 7, 9, 13, 15, and 17). It appears that an indexer recorded the place name using the incorrect state abbreviation of MS (mississippi) instead of ME (Maine). Each of the transcriptions has an active edit button that allows the place to be corrected. Because of the backlog in making corrections, and because these transcriptions can be edited and corrected, we will not be sending this to the specialty team. It appears that it can best be corrected one record at a time since it does not affect the entire film.
There is a Help Center article called "How do I fix indexing or transcription errors in historical records?" that gives instructions.
