Does FamilySearch still send email notifications when changes are made to people you're following?

I recently noticed there were some major changes to people I follow on FamilySearch but I didn't receive an alert. Has anyone else notice this?

When I make a change, I get a message saying other contributors will be notified. Is FamilySearch still sending out these notifications?

    FYI

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

Short Answer: 'Yes', we still receive those ('Weekly') "E-mails" of "Changes to those that we "Follow"

    Caveat ...

Those ('Weekly') "E-mails", that we receive regarding "Changes to those that we "Follow," are NOT like they used to be.

The "E-mails", DO NOT, indicate ANYTHING about "Changes to those that we "Follow".

    image.png

The "E-mails", SIMPLY indicate that we have "Notifications" in 'FamilySearch', suggesting that ...

    "You have new notifications" ...

    With a link/button to ... [ VIEW ALL NOTIFICATIONS ] ...

Plus, provides a URL, just in case that link/button does not work ...

    https://www.familysearch.org/notifications

    Basically ...

The place, that we can 'see' the "Weekly" NOTIFICATIONS, of "Changes to those that we "Follow", is NOW, through the "Notifications" 'Bell' (TOP Line Menu, 'right-hand-side'') in 'FamilySearch', under the 'Category' of "Tree":

    https://www.familysearch.org/notifications/tree

[ IF, the 'Bell' has a 'Red" indicator on the Top. 'right-hand-side'; THEN, you have an "Unread" NOTIFICATION ]

    image.png

[ And, here is the "List", of MY "Notifications", of "Changes to those that I "Follow" ...]

    image.png

Here is a "Knowledge Article" in 'FamilySearch':

How do I follow or unfollow a person in Family Tree?

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/can-i-follow-an-individual-in-family-tree

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/can-i-follow-an-individual-in-family-tree

Where it states, among other things ...

    Quote

    ------------------

    • You receive a weekly FamilySearch notification to alert you to these changes.

    ------------------

    Plus ...

Where do I find FamilySearch notifications?

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/where-do-i-find-familysearch-notifications

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/where-do-i-find-familysearch-notifications

    I hope this helps.

    Hi Brett -

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question! When I go into the section you kindly screen shot, it only lists discoveries, as seen below. I don't have the "General" or "Tree" options. I've looked everywhere in settings to change this to no avail.

    Hm ...

I couple of thoughts in passing ...

    (1) I know this may sound ODD; but, I need to ask:

... Have you "Checked" your LIST of those that you "Follow", lately? ... Are you STILL "Following" people?

    image.png

    Whereas ...

    (2) IF, you DO have a LIST with those that you "Follow"; THEN, have you checked that list to 'see' if there have been ANY "Changes" to those that you "Follow"?

IF, there have NOT been ANY "Changes" to those that you "Follow"; THEN, you will NOT have gotten ANY such "Notifications"; as, NOTHING has 'triggered' that notification.

    Now ...

    That Said ...

IF, there has been ANY "Changes" to those that you "Follow"; THEN, do you have "Notifications"; as, ENABLED, in your "Settings", in your 'FamilySearch' Account to RECEIVE "Notifications".

    image.png

    Now ...

    All that Said ...

Failing all that, at the moment, I am at a loss.

I just checked, My Wife has such; and, those that I "Help" have such ...

Question: How LONG have you been "Following" people?

Myself; Wife; and, those that I "Help" have been "Following" people for a very long time, since it used to be called "Watch".

I wonder if that had anything to do with it?

    I wait your response.

    Brett

    ps: Very "Curious" ...

I follow about 90 people and I have for at least 2 or 3 years. I may ask my sister to do one of the changes I'd like to make so I can see if it triggers a notification.

As for notifications, my page looks exactly like yours.

I'm going to try the above idea and see what happens. I'll let you know.

    Thank you Brett!

No, they don't. I noticed this in January when changes were made, then again in February and March.

    Raymond

    FYI

    FIRSTLY ...

You will 'see' the "Change" in that on-line list of "Changes" to those that you "Follow", almost immediately.

    But ...

    That Said ...

That will NOT initiate a "Notification" (or, E-mail) for at least, a Week or more.

    SECONDLY ...

So, there have been "Changes" to those that you "Follow", in January; February and March, 2021; and, you were "Following" the People BEFORE then; plus, you have "E-mail" NOTIFICATIONS as ENABLED ...
