2008 Liberian Census Help
So I've done a couple of these Liberian Census records now without any issues. I just came to one, however, that has me confused. There are 4 columns underneath age, each of which is filled out for each person on the document. One column is white and one is gray. I thought maybe one was for living and one was for deceased, but there is no indication on the document to clarify what difference the color makes. On other questions, they also have extra columns but both sets have had the same number in them, with the exception of marital status.
My question is which column should I be using? White or gray? Or is it age with years and months? Any help would be much appreciated.

I pulled up a batch. If you look at the second example in the section of the proj. inst. that says What To Index, it shows to use the white columns. I don't know what this guy was doing when he filled it out.

For those who are interested, here below is a link to a PowerPoint presentation (PowerPoint not needed to view) on the 2008 Liberian Census including the Post-Enumeration Survey (PES). I've broken out a couple of pertinent citations on the PES that explain its structure and purpose. I could not find Instructions/handbooks on either the original survey form, or the PES, but I suspect that the dark boxes are for the original census value, and the white boxes are for the newly collected data. It doesn't make sense (to me) to make the new data harder to read than the old. As Indexing Example #2 instructs, we are to index the data in the white boxes (when available).
Post Enumeration Survey PES Sample Design • A sample of 352 Enumeration Areas was selected (5% of 7, 025 EAs) • The country was stratified by counties (15 counties) as well as urban and rural areas LISGIS 9/2/09 PAGE 11
Post Enumeration Survey The Objectives of the PES were: • To assess the degree of courage (sic) during the census enumeration • To examine the implication of coverage deficiencies, if any on the usefulness of the census data • To obtain information for the design of future censuses and survey • To examine the characteristics of persons who may have been missed during the census enumeration 9/2/09 LISGIS PAGE 12

Is there a code that says what (7) and (8) mean?

Those numbers just indicate the column number.

Please give a share batch code so we can see it and look at the instructions. This is different than all the forms I've indexed for these censuses.

Thanks a bunch! I appreciate the help!
In case you still want to look at the batch I'm working on, here's the batch ID:
